Richard Gordon Harman
Of Alexandria, VA, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Loving husband of the late Mary Ann Harman. He is survived by his son, Richard Gordon Harman, Jr.; daughter, Lisa Marie Harman, and many more family and friends. Richard (Dick) was a native Alexandrian. He retired from the U.S. Government after 34 years of service. Throughout his life, he was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, the American Red Cross, the Mount Vernon Amateur Radio Club and the Medical Reserve Corps. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Everly Wheatly Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Ivy Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard''s name may be made to the Boy Scouts and/or the American Red Cross.

Dick touched many lives including mine , he was well informed and willing to share his knowledge , a maker of fine fine honey , and teller of jokes and tales . I will miss him coming to my office and our chats .

As one of my officemate's clients, Dick was in our insurance office regularly. At every visit, he made him presence known by greeting everyone, telling jokes and sharing quirky stories. I am sorry to hear of his passing and will miss those visits. My sincere condolences to his family.
