Richard Francis Muth (Age 61)  
Of Alexandria, Virginia died suddenly on Monday, September 12, 2016, at his home. He was the loving husband of 32 years to Christine (Conroy) Muth; devoted father of daughters, Emily and Laura.  Richard was born on April 29, 1955, to James C. and Lorraine Ann (Bode) Muth in Washington, DC and grew up in Bethesda and Potomac, MD. After completing his education at Johns Hopkins University and George Washington University, he served during his professional career as a contracting officer and acquisition professional for the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 2004. He married Christine Conroy in 1984 and became father to daughters, Emily in 1987 and Laura in 1990. Throughout his life, he was well-known for his quirky sense of humor, which brightened the lives of family, friends, neighbors, and sometimes even complete strangers.  Richard was preceded by his parents, Ann and James Muth. He is survived by his wife; daughters; siblings, Michael, Karen, Janet and Ingrid; many loving nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his best friend and beloved dog, Abby.  A viewing and service will be held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, Virginia 22315 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 18.  In lieu of flowers, family members request that donations be made to the Mid-Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue (MAESSR.) Adopting Abby from their organization and supporting their work brought Richard great joy in his life.
