Richmon Gore Obituary

GORE, RICHMON CHARLES, SR. (Age 97)

Of Broadway, VA, formerly of the Metropolitan area, died March 26, 2002 in Timberville, VA. He was born March 6, 1905 in Blossom, TX, son of the late Thomas S. and Martha Louella Watson Gore. He retired as a Lt. in the U.S. Navy, where he was the senior Engineer over President Dwight D. Eisenhower's plane, Columbine. He served in World War II, with the Curtis Wright Corp., Wright Aeronautical Division. From 1964 to 1978, he sold real estate with Hugh T. Peck Realty in Riverdale, MD and he was a former member of the Gideon's International. He was a former member of Lewisdale Baptist Church. On October 5, 1926, he married the former Mary L. Belvin, who died May 21, 1987. Surviving are two sons, Richmon "Sonny" C. Gore, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, William Roy Gore of Annapolis, MD; two daughters, Katherine Griffin of Broadway, Cenith Lorraine Gore of Woodbridge, VA; one brother, Campbell Watson Gore of McAllister, OK; one sister, Cenith Williams Gore of Glendale, AZ; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the GRANDLE FUNERAL HOME, Broadway, VA. Funeral will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 29 at the Timberville Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrinsonburg. The casket will be closed at the church.
