I´m so sorry to hear about Hoff. We played soccer together in the old guy league 55+ for the Why Nots.
Hoff was a great teammate and was a great goalkeeper!
He´ll be missed.
My sincere sympathies.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hoff. I only knew him for a few months, ultimately the last few of his life. But his vibrancy, passion, joy, enthusiasm, and, most importantly, kindness meant the world to me. Those few months that I had the pleasure to be around him will remain with me until the end of my own life.
To know him was a unique pleasure and awarding him Congressional Cemetery's Docent of the Year (something he would have LOVED for me to remind everyone) will stay with me as a warm memory on a day he was positively brimming with all of the things that made him special; his passion, his joy, his humor, his good nature, and his love for others.
My wife and I send our thoughts and hopes to the family during this trying time.

One travels the world to expand your mind, see beautiful sites, and meet interesting people. That is certainly what happened when Leslie and I met Hoff and Diane in Mexico City. Over a glass of wine in a hotel lobby, we discovered lots of common interests and connected on many levels. Hoff was a beautiful sole and a fascinating person. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including those, like us, who only shared a brief time together.

I never saw Hoff default into cynicism or negativity. His smile was always there, and it engendered smiles on the faces of many others. He was a willing and loyal friend, and he offered help of any kind whenever anyone asked for it. He will be greatly missed. So will his tales of having attended Woodstock. Mud-splattered but wondrous!
