STEPHANIE PATRICK Obituary

PATRICK M. STEPHANIE PATRICK M. Stephanie Patrick died June 14, 2017 from chronic autoimmune hepatitis. Stephanie was born October 13, 1952 in Lafayette, IN, grew up on her family's Tippecanoe County farm, attended the Universidad de Madrid (Spain) and graduated from Purdue University, where she earned a double major in journalism and Spanish, and was a twirler for the Purdue All-American Marching Band. She is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and remained a lifelong friend and contributor. Her professional career focused on food and agriculture, as well as nutrition and health policies. She most recently was a communications and research consultant in the Washington offices of a multinational grain and agricultural commodities company. Stephanie began work in Washington in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. She also worked in the Washington office of Cargill, Inc., where she dealt with government relations issues for the company's diverse product lines and services. Stephanie was a global food and agriculture consultant. With experience and achievements in government, corporate, and non-profit settings, her career focused on food and agriculture production and marketing, as well as nutrition, science, and health issues. She was involved in the design and substance of long-term, global food security approaches, including economic, environmental, investment, trade, research, and development policies. Her interests included travel, cooking, and playing The Who at loud volumes. Stephanie enjoyed taking cruises; from seeing glaciers in Alaska, to the tip of Argentina. She enjoyed trying new foods and cooking styles, and took a class at the Culinary Institute. Her passion was providing the means make memories; to laugh hard, eat well, and sample as much wine as we all could. Judy and I were so saddened to hear of Steph's passing, and of course, our thoughts and prayers are with Barry and the family. I look back fondly on my first years in DC, and lots of laughs with Steph and Bob Fahs, who were Cargill here in town. She'll be missed. Steve and Judy Kopperud
