Theodore Visnic Obituary

Theodore M. Visnic, Jr.
Theodore M. "Ted" Visnic, Jr., 62, from Glenwood, formerly of Hyattsville, Maryland passed away Monday, October 23, 2017. His passion for craftsmanship and the people he served combined with his talent as a skilled carpenter, led to dozens of local and national awards over his thirty-five-year career, including twice receiving the honor of National Custom Home Builder of the Year. He served his industry as member and Chairman of the NAHB Custom Home Builder's Council and partnered with builders across the country to improve the art of fine custom home building. An avid and talented sportsman, Ted was a legendary marksman and hunter. As a baseball coach and mentor, his championship teams developed athletes to perform on the field and in life at the highest level. Few could match his infectious enthusiasm as a Baltimore Ravens fan. A beloved and dedicated father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He is survived by children Aaron; daughter-in-law Connie, Lauren, Stephen; daughter-in-law Ashlee, and grandchildren Julia, Marshall, Olivia and Pierce. Ted is also survived by his mother, Linda R. Gray; father Theodore M. Visnic, Sr.; brother Lawrence Visnic and sister, Lisa Sheehan. Ted's laughter, curiosity, uncanny eye for detail, robust personality, eager friendship and profound sensitivity for so many he loved will be fondly remembered. Friends may call at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Sunday, November 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 5205 43rd Avenue, Hyattsvillle, MD. In 1995, Ted built our wonderful custom home, in which we still live. He was attentive to our every need and was a pleasure to work with. When he was trying to get us a lot in Marwood, which was in litigation, we went with him to court. He appreciated our support as much as we appreciated his. As others have stated, he had a fine tuned eye for detail and produced a beautiful and outstanding home. We remain grateful for what he did for us. We were shocked to just learn about his premature passing. He will be missed by so many. Our very belated condolences to Ted's family.

It is with sadness for me to find out about the passing of Ted. I will truly miss him... he was a friend and truly a good soul. Ted was so kind to all and had great integrity...his clients loved him. As a Interior Designer that worked with him, I appreciated his work and his work ethics. I am so sad that he is gone...

I've known Teddy since first grade, as we both attended St Jerome's school in Hyattsville and went on to public school. I always looked forward to seeing him at reunions, along with other St J alums, and last saw him at our high school reunion in 2013. I will miss seeing him terribly at our reunions and am so sorry for the family's loss.

I also worked for Ted when it was Mitchell, Best & Visnic. He was the best kind of builder - exceptionally talented at reading a set of plans and seeing the possibilities, like wrapping 'important crown,' creating a gallery from a hall, attracting exceedingly talented architects, framing subs, ... But beyond that, Ted had integrity. People respected him for that, as did I. And Ted was always kind - always. I'm very sorry for the loss you've suffered. We'll all miss Ted.

I first met Ted when he came to stay at the Grand Union Hotel while working at the Front Desk. We would talk about football and how Baltimore and Denver where doing (our respective favorite teams). He would also call and just ask what are you doing without giving his name and then he would proceed to book a room. He will be missed.

Ted first started staying at the Grand Union Hotel in 2005. He soon became a special guest and friend to our entire staff.

I once told Ted, the only way to have a fine hotel was to have fine guests. Our hotel was at its very finest whenever Ted checked in.

We treasure his friendship and we will truly miss his dignified, polite, and engaging personality.

My heart felt sorrow learning of the loss of your Ted. I worked and knew him for 20 years. We had friends we both knew from high school. Always a first class act and I am totally devastated. May GOD hold all of those he loved close in his arms and give you strength in the days to follow.

I was blessed to know Ted during a wonderful time when we were fortunate to coach an outstanding group of young men who hailed from seven different counties in Maryland and went on to capture a national championship and several state titles during the early to mid 2000's. Ted's passion for excellence, profound generosity, meticulous teaching methods and endless encouragement were foundational to our success.

He was the architect of those great amateur teams and I will forever be grateful for all that he did for my son and all of the players and families in our charge during those magical years. Rest In Peace Coach Ted

Our family is saddened to hear this news . Our son played baseball with Teds son ,Ted was definitely a role model a motivator a good coach and all-around good man .
He always gave the kids good instruction and then a pat on the back. Ted was very gracious with his home having events there for the team and the boys always had a great time . He was very successful and very humble at the same time ,
He will be missed

I met Ted some 30 years ago while hunting. For the next 20 years we spoke almost daily and hunted together seemingly every day during the season. We traveled many times to Quebec for Caribou and Bear. They were some of the best times I've every had. Unfortunately, life got busy and we just fell out of contact except for the occasional call. We were great at leaving long voice mails to each other.
Four words: Ted,Jim, call,bye

So, Ted its Jim, see you later old buddy, bye

We are devastated to hear that Ted is no longer with us. Ted built our family's dream home where so many wonderful memories were created. Ted was such a talented and honorable builder. During the course of our friendship, we discovered that we probably had relatives in common in our families' native Yugoslavia. We will sorely miss our dear cousin and the world will be a lesser place without him. May you rest in peace, dearest Ted. All our love, the Potter, Adler and Aston families.
