Theresa S. Cini

Peacefully died at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the age of 90.

A generous and loving wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, John C. Cini, with whom she shared a love of family, a passion for projects, and a desire to learn about and experience the world through travel and art.

She is survived by her three children, John C. Cini III and partner Star Lancaster, Diane (Cini) Dowling (husband Rob,) and Laura Cini Parker (husband Jim); her three grandchildren, Amanda Parker Morgan and husband Don, Gregory Parker, and Larissa Dowling; sister Josephine Marra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa embodied grace, elegance, and style. Throughout her life, she generously offered time, resources, guidance and love to her immediate and extended family and friends. Theresa was a consummate conversationalist, an avid reader, and enjoyed and supported the arts in all its forms.

Theresa earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, married John, and together raised their family. Later, Theresa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the University of Maryland, became an accredited member of A.S.I.D. and a founding partner of Interior Space, serving commercial and residential clients.

The family will receive visitors at Pumphrey Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., Rockville, MD, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Dr., Potomac, MD. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
