I met Mr. Fisher when I was working at the David Taylor Model Basin
(now know as the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division). He retired about 25 years ago. He also bowled in the employee bowling league. I knew Mr. Fisher both as a co-worker and as a member of an opposing bowling team. He even sponsored my membership to the Izaak Walton League about 25 years ago. He was a very easy going nice guy.

Warren was a good friend to many of us with the Izaak Walton League of America. He was an undaunted leader on conservation issues, having been instrumental in getting the Maryland "Chickadee Checkoff" added to the State tax code - a provision to designate a couple of tax dollars to worthwhile conservation project.
Out of respect for Warren's many years of dedication to conservation, the Rockville Chapter of the IWLA named their scholarship program for youth pursuing post secondary education in conservation or environmental studies in his honor - the Thomas Warren Fisher Conservation Scholarship.
Warren was a member of the Rockville Chapter from 1936 till his death. He was a moving force behind getting a lot of worthwhile programs and projects completed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, to his lovely wife of 38 years, Sheila and to his four daughters. May you rest easy in your loss knowing that Warren made a real contribution to you, to his community and to our world through his dedication and commitment to conservation.

Uncle Warren -- one of my favorites! Memories will always be of sheep, county fairs and square dancing! We all loved him dearly and will miss him. Much love to his family.
