In Memoriam Militis
(In Memory of Cpl. Timothy Magnus Shea)
Ascending still are you on Breede and Bunker Hills?
Though while the years have passed,
The nascent pace you have forged there fills
And still strides in our souls since we there amassed
A perspective of history to view.
How could we know where the stairway led
Claustrophobic and circuitous?
To Husaybah dunes where our hearts have bled
That seemed, at first, less than fortuitous
With consolations all too few.
As on that day to the monument top we scrambled,
Our eyes perceived lucent horizons vast.
And since that day oft has our treading ambled
To recapture a vision that could not last.
Yet what is it that remains with us so true?
The journey goes on as you lead the way
With charm and courage and Irish laughter
Toward something or someone we viewed that day.
Will we continue following after
As Epiphany surges through and through?
The Camino we travel for eternity
Alpha-Omega to Calvary.

Ready for the annual Tim Shea Day to honor Tim's spirit that embraced the joy of family, friends and all that he loved in this world. It is so appropriate this day begins our celebration of the Memorial Day weekend that honors all those who served our country with the vigor that Tim so exemplified. He did so with consideration of his fellow brothers and sisters in service and for all of us for whom he served. That is certainly part of "Spirit of Tim Shea" and is one of the gifts he gave to all of us whom he touched. It will forever live on as his legacy.

To the Parents of Timothy Magnus Shea
My son, Jon Coutchie was deployed with your son, Timothy at the time he was KIA. Jon separated from the Army in Sept. 2007 and became a Police Officer with Laguna Beach PD. On Sept. 21st, 2013 Jon was killed while on duty in a traffic accident. While going through his belongings, I have found a KIA bracelet with Timothy's name and a smaller folded flag. I know Jon accompanied some of his Ranger brothers home but don't know if he did that for your son. I would like to send you both the bracelet and flag as I believe that's what Jon would want me to do. If you could email me your mailing address, I will mail these to you. My sincere sympathies for your unfathomable loss. ([email protected])

Timmy -
It's hard for me to articulate anything I feel or the sensation I have when I remember the old, old days or when I see pictures of you, hear your name.
My mom is the one who told me about your passing almost four years ago, but I never took it in. The news hit my ears, but I didn't, couldn't let it go any further. Like a lot of things in my life, I couldn't grasp and process what I had been told and it was easier to rewind and erase. How often as kids we take time, friendships and all those little moments for granted. You and your sis were one of those things I felt was a central piece to me finding my way back to real living, but I kept putting it off. I'm sorry I didn't butch up sooner about taking charge of my life so I could get back in yours and Sara's. I missed out more than I will probably ever know, but what I do have of you is enough for now.
By the time you were becoming the great young man who served this country, I was gone. I always had a hole in my heart for you and Sara. It was a feeling deep in the pit of my stomach of loss and wanting to go back in time, back to the Harley Street backyard where imagination was king, but I couldn't because time tick tocked along while I was away.
God blessed me by finally bringing Sara and I together. It felt like HOME to hug eachother so hard that we looked like siamese twins. When we finally let go of eachother, I opened my eyes and saw your face, your smile everywhere and I felt you. Maybe not you, but maybe the profound love for you that fills that home and the hearts of those who had the grace to know you. I think I actually felt my heart physically warm up and expand - it took my breath away.
I miss you. You weren't given enough time here with us AT ALL and in that short time, I missed so much of your beautiful life. I can't look at your dad without seeing you. This was almost haunting at first, but then it became comforting in a way. The face, the expressions, the kindness, and best of all - the humor and love.
I know you died as a Cpl, Ranger, hero, young man, brother, son, buddy, teammate...but to me you will always be Timmy. You are the little brother I never had, but always wished for and for a short time, you were and for that I am a better person. You, your sister, Mary and Bill are remarkable people who have the gift to bring a smile, a laugh, a lighter take on life and my life wouldn't be the same without you Shea's.
I miss you and hope you can feel all the love that bubbles out of all of us for you, Timmy. I've been needing to 'say' these things to you for so many years.
As Hallmark as this will sound, thank you to this site and others like it. Those whose lives have been sacrificed in service to us, this country, you WILL NOT be forgotten becasuse you are our daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, moms, dads and BFF's, each one with a different story, dream and life that doesn't begin or end in the battlefield, but in hearts and memories. It's too easy to get used to the sullen hum of a list of deceased soldiers being read on the eveining news. I need to rememeber my Timmy.

Happy Independence Day.
It brings me great joy to say that. For, if it weren’t for Tim Shea and people like him I would not be able to express my freedom. We American citizens are forever indebted to our servicemen and women.
I will not forget where my freedom comes from. On this Independence Day I remember Tim and his family. I can not comprehend the courage it must take to face Tim’s death.
Tim Shea is an American Hero in my eyes and in the eyes of many.
God Bless America, God Bless the Shea family, and thank God for our Freedom.

To the Shea Family,
I served with and loved Tim as a brother from practically the day we met. I have met you all briefly but never got a chance to truly express my condolences. Since his death myself and a fellow Ranger from the same platoon have gotten matching Tattoo's in remembrance of Tim. I also made a video in his memory which we tried to play at his memorial dinner in columbus, but the audio was messed up. I have since recovered the video and posted it on youtube. i must warn that it does show Tim in a different light than many of his family members may remember, but never the less it was Tim and we loved him for it... (in other words there are a lot of drinking photos and middle fingers haha). So I hope you enjoy it and I will try to be in contact with you soon and send you some photo's of our tatoo's. As of right now my name must be left partially annonymous for reasons out of my hands. God Bless you all and there is not a day that I do not pray for you all and Tim.

I just wanted to say your son has not been forgettten. You do not know me, but my cousin served with your son in 3/75 Regiment, and I know they were very close. My cousin Cpl. Benjamin Dillon was just killed last week and I just wanted to pay my respects to your son and remind you that he is not forgetten and is a true Hero, just like all the other young men out there that put their lives on the line for our freedom everyday. God Bless them all!!!

Just wanted to send a note to say
we have not forgotten your son and his life here on this earth.
I think of him every day as I look into my son's eyes. I am grateful I have my son, and sad you do not have yours any longer here on earth.
I think your son's passing will forever be what makes a difference in our lives as we have watched our son come home from war. Our son served with your son. Our son made the decision to leave the army and
return to a civillian life. The week he left his unit, was when your son was killed.
I know it has been on his mind many times, wondering what would it been if he had stayed, and I too wonder. Maybe Tim would have been alright? Maybe my son would have been killed also?
But I wanted to let you know, after 2 years, we still all think of your son, the sacrifices he made for us, and the life he lost.
He will always be our guiding light as we go through this world with the time we have left.
Are we living up to what Tim would have had the opportunity to do if he were still alive?

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I am sorry to hear the news of losing another Ranger. I also lost my son Damian James Garza on 8-4-2005. I know the pain that you feel losing your son. Your son was a brave and strong ranger. I know there is nothing that will make you feel better, but we must be strong and proud for our son. I know that is what they would want us to do. I will pray for your family. To the Shea Family,
Tim touched the lives of many people including me. He was able to teach the true meaning of life through his laughter, his antedotal stories-historical or not-, his sparkling eyes filled with wonder, and his absolute kindness to all.
His presence in and out of the classroom (even when he was on 'vacation' from another class!) reminded me that no matter what struggles we may have had to endure or will endure, that after all is said and done, the joy of life, all comes down to the simple things in life.
Tim: simple pleasures, simple things, simple needs-the true meaning of what life is supposed to be.
Thank you for the lesson, Tim.

Dear Shea Family
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
I toohave lost a son who served with Tim. Cpl Joshua Wade Cody died May 7th of this year. Josh served with the Rangers 3/75 HHC for a year and half and three months with Recon.
When deployed Josh would attach with B company as their Fox 13. Most of the young Rangers who served in Josh's funeral were Bravo company. Josh also died at the age of 22.
Both of our sons left this world far to soon and this world will never be the same without them. We lost two brave, committed, young men who lived life full. They knew the risk and were willing to give all to keep you and I free. I remember Josh saying to me " Mom your Ranger will always be here protecting you".
All of our Ranger sons are still on duty watching over us and waiting to see us again one day. Until that day you will have long hard times in dealing with your loss. My prayers are with you and in the coming months. In the fashion of a Ranger Tim and Josh are leading the way for us all.
Thank you Ranger sons and keep watch for us. Our hearts are with you always.
God keep you by his grace.
