Virginia Briscuso Obituary

Virginia Lee "Ginny" Dunlap Briscuso, 91, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL and Potomac, MD, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 in Edgewater, MD surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 31, 1933, in Georgetown, Washington, DC, Ginny was a cherished daughter of Eleanor Saunders Dunlap and Edward Twiss Dunlap. During the Great Depression, her family moved to "EdLee," a farm estate on Saunders Lane in Potomac, land that had been in her mother's family for generations. It was there that Ginny's love of nature, family, and tradition took root—values she carried with her throughout her life. Later, she raised her own family just down the road on Harrington Drive and spent decades making memories during summers at the Jersey Shore in Sea Isle City before settling in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
Ginny was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Raymond J. Briscuso, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. She is survived by her sister Katherine Dunlap Ward, brother Richard Slater Dunlap (Lois), and five devoted children: Sandy Terpeluk (Paul) of Chestertown, MD; Kathy O'Brien (Michael) of Annapolis, MD; Ray Briscuso (PeggyAnne) of Potomac, MD; Bobbie Cusimano (Michael)Centreville, MD; and Robin Briscuso, of Boulder, CO & Potomac, MD. She is also lovingly remembered by her daughter-in-law Bryn Briscuso, de facto son, Billy Amoroso, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Edward Saunders Dunlap.
Ginny's early years were spent attending Clara Barton Elementary, Leland Junior High, and Western High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, where she was a proud member of Delta Gamma Sorority and a member of the Homecoming Court. Her pride in her perfect school attendance was legendary—often reminding her children how she walked a mile to catch the school bus and never missed a day of school.
She was the heart of her family: a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Ginny found joy in the everyday—cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, spending summer days in Sea Isle City, or watching horses from the GinRay Stable compete at various race tracks. Her home was always open, her table always full. Whether you were family, friend, or someone she just met, you were always welcomed with a warm "Hey, Babe" and sent off with a cheerful "Tally Ho!"
Ginny had a special gift for making people feel at home, and loved. She liked to tell stories of early days living on the farm, riding horseback with her mother along River Road before it was paved or delivering cash-filled envelopes (before there were checks) when she worked in the accounting office at Congressional Country Club. She later worked for her favorite designer, Lilly Pulitzer. Ginny gave her time generously—serving as Chair of the Auxiliary for the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City and volunteering annually at the PGA TOUR's Kemper Open and other events.
A celebration of Ginny's life will be held at Congressional Country Club on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to The Club Foundation at Congressional Country Club.
Ginny will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her infectious smile and genuine hospitality. Her warmth, and authentic down to earth nature live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. B was a second mom to so many, especially the kids in the neighborhood on Harrington Drive. She understood hospitality from the heart. She epitomized kindness, acceptance, and no matter how much she had going on, she had a gift of making you feel "seen" when you were with her. Life always felt a little easier or better after some time with Mrs. B at her kitchen table. Tally ho Mrs. B, you made an impact on so many.
