I knew Warren for only a short time--all too short--but I grew very fond of him very quickly. He was such a warm, witty, thoughtful guy. I feel that we were kindred spirits in many ways, and we shared a love not only of opera, food and wine, but also of great show tunes and jazz standards, which we would sing to one another whenever we saw each other on my opera tours. I will never forget waiting for the elevator at our hotel in Chicago only to have the elevator door open to reveal Warren and Debbie, and without missing a beat, Warren started singing me some Cole Porter or Jerome Kern tune or other. It was funny, touching and a sign of affection and connection that I will always cherish.

I'm honored to have known Warren and to have counted myself as one of his friends. I will miss him dearly.

My love and sympathy to Debbie and the entire family.

I had the pleasure and privilege of co-teaching the Law and Economics seminar at Georgetown with Warren some years ago. He was a wonderful scholar and a genuinely nice (and funny) man. I was sorry to learn of his passing.
