To the McAllister family and friends
Bill was my first commanding officer when I transferred from an active duty Surface Warfare Officer to a reserve PAO at the Norfolk Public Affairs Center. I always learned so much watching him edit our weekend output. It truly was like being in the newsroom on deadline. He taught me much about attention to detail, care of your people and leadership. It was the best introduction to being a PAO and gave me a model to follow through my career.
Sympathy to his loved ones and Fair Winds and Following Seas, Captain.

Buddy- you taught me everything about being a journalist. You are in my heart forever. But you knew that.

Dear Mrs. McAllister and Family,
I had the pleasure of serving with Bill in the Navy Reserve. He was a terrific Public Affairs offficer. I succeeded Bill as commanding officer of a unit in Norfolk. Everyone was fond of Bill; his leadership was outstanding. I'm deeply sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
Very sincerely,
Jim Noone
