WILLIAM SANKER Obituary


WILLIAM ALLAN SANKER (Age 64)  
Of Chesterfield, VA died on April 15, 2016 at the Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. He was born on February 2, 1952 in Washington, DC to the late Oscar William and Evelyn T. Sanker. Allan retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 22 years of service. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 186. Allan was the beloved husband of Cheryl Sanker; loving and devoted father of Jeremy and his wife Felicia; proud grandfather of Abigail Marie; brother of Sandy Cave; son-in-law of Mary Downs; brother-in-law of Cindy Wade. Also survived by five nephews and one niece; and many other family and friends. He also leaves his faithful companion, Daisy, his beagle.The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, where funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25 at 12 Noon. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital, 1401 Johnston Willis Drive, Richmond, VA 23860 or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

All of us cousins spent many fun summers together a long time ago. Allan was a good guy. He will be missed. My condolences to Cheryl, Sandy and the rest of the family.
