Barbara Vette Obituary
Barbara Ann Vette was born on January 28, 1938, the daughter of Herman and Lucille (Heiser) Poppe in Bremer County, Iowa. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1957. On September 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to George Vette in Waverly. She and George moved to their acreage in 1970 and lived there together until October 2022, when health issues forced them to move to the Shell Rock Healthcare Center.
Barbara enjoyed life on the acreage raising her family and all of the animals they had. She raised goats which she would show, horses, cows, canaries, fish, finches, sheep, among others, and always had a knack for keeping any of the little critters alive and well. She had a green thumb and loved her African violets and many other plants which decorated the house.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Doug) Jones of Fernald, Iowa and Jana Cannegieter of Waverly, son Brett (Robin) Vette of Waverly, grandchildren Colin, Dana, Evan, Emily, Chelsea, Ryan, Clayton, Erin, Thea, Doug, Cora, and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, her sister Nancy, and son-in-law Doug Cannegieter.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Cemetery. A lunch will follow back at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
