Christene Perry Obituary
CHRISTENE RICE PERRY, 80, found peace in the arms of her Lord on July 22, 2025 when she passed away surrounded by her family at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV.
She was born on May 22, 1945 in Grey Eagle, WV, and lived in Genoa, WV. She was the daughter of Ruth Porter Rice and Cecil Rice, both preceding her in death.
She is survived by the love of her life after 60 years of marriage, her husband, Okey Lee Perry of Genoa, WV; one son, Larry Edward Perry of Huntington, WV; one daughter, Christal Lee Perry Morrison of Hilliard, OH; three grandsons, Connor James Morrison, Trevor Perry Morrison and Hayden Wesley Morrison, all of Hilliard, OH.
She is also survived by three siblings, Linda Sue Rice Artrip (Teddy Joe), James Walter Rice and Monica Rice Varney (Rex), along with special in-laws, Pamela Preston Perry (Harry Lynn "Butch" Perry - deceased), Frennie Edward "Ed" Perry, Mary Margaret Perry Sword (Larry Calvin Sword). Heartfelt thanks pours out to our special cousin and caregiver, Debbie Perry.
Christene loved her nieces and nephews: Melinda, Michelle, Melissa, Jim, Trenton, Whitney, Ariell, Tara, Leigha, Beth Ann, Alan, Chuck, Brian, Tommy, Jenny, Kyle, and special cousin, Robby, along with countless great-nieces and great-nephews.
Christene was a member of the Genoa Church of Christ. She worked at the Genoa Post Office, Queen's Department Store, and she retired from the Wayne County Board of Education after thirty years of being a teacher's aide at Genoa Elementary, where she touched the lives of hundreds of children.
Christene was best known for her Rice Krispie Treats. She often said, "if you would stack up all of the Rice Krispie Treats I have made, I bet they would go up to the moon!"
Everyone is welcome to attend a brief graveside gathering at the John Perry Cemetery on Hampton Ridge Road in Genoa on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 1 p.m. Immediately following, at approximately 2:30 p.m., we invite you to join family and friends for a potluck Celebration of Life at the home of Mary and Larry Sword in Genoa.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington where Christene rested and was taken care of, supported and loved by an entire staff of wonderful, precious people, especially Beverly and Barbie.
