Barbara Oltmann Obituary

Barbara Jean Fleshner Oltmann passed away peacefully July 30 at the Waverly Health Center after a brief stay.

Barb was born July 23, 1943, in rural Butler County near Allison to Hattie (Hartema) and Lewis Fleshner. Barb attended Kindergarten through 8th grade at County School Jackson #4 in Butler County Iowa. She then attended Clarksville High School and graduated in 1961.Barb was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Johns Lutheran Church ELCA in Clarksville, Iowa. Barb married Dennis Oltmann June 8, 1962, and lived in the Clarksville area until April 1982 when they moved to Broomfield, CO. After divorcing Barb moved to the Kansas City area in 1995 to be closer to her grandchildren. Barb lived in the Kansas City area, Wichita and Salina before moving back to Clarksville in 2017. Barb spent her career working as office support personnel for over 35 years. Barb filled her time reading, quilting, watching sporting events, church and spending time with family and friends. Some of her fondest memories are of her ladies' quilting vacations along the Mississippi river. Barb was known for her bright smile and boisterous laugh.

Barb is survived by her three sons Kurt (Teri) Sunrise Beach, MO, Mitchell (Tabitha) Jacksonville, NC, Brent (Alohna) Olathe, KS. Grandchildren Jakob (Jennifer), Lukas and Andrew Oltmann. Two step granddaughters Carmen (Scott) Duitzman and Ashley Anctil. Brother Richard Fleshner. Nephews Rodney (Ingrid) Kuhn, Lewis Fleshner and niece Jodi Fleshner. Barb was preceded in death by her parents Hattie (Hartema) Fleshner and Lewis Fleshner. Sister Joann Kuhn, Brother-in-law Darwin Kuhn and niece Patti Jo Kuhn. Two infant sons John Lewis, 1966, and Michael Jay, 1968.

The family would like to thank the friends in Barbs' life that helped her as her health declined the past few years. Your friendship was truly a treasure.
