Gregory Eighmey Obituary

Gregory Allen Eighmey

July 1, 1959 - November 1, 2025

Gregory Allen Eighmey, born on July 1, 1959, in Waterloo, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2025, in Independence, Mo. He was 66 years old. Greg was a man whose vision and entrepreneurial spirit shaped not only his life but also the lives of many around him. For over 44 years, he owned Kansas City Railcar Service, a vision he brought to life and a thriving business that employed 50 individuals, all of whom benefited from his leadership and guidance.

Greg was a graduate of Columbus High School and furthered his education at the University of Northern Iowa. Known for his humor, honesty, and genuine nature, he was fiercely loyal and instilled a sense of competitive greatness in his children, always encouraging those around him to strive for their best. His encouragement extended beyond his family, as he inspired everyone he met.

Outside of his professional life, Greg had a passion for gardening and landscaping, always maintaining a pristine yard. He was more than just a businessman; he was a devoted coach to his children and their friends, imparting valuable life lessons both on and off the field.

Above all, Greg's proudest accomplishment was his family, who were the center of his life. He valued his relationships with each one of them deeply and found joy in every moment they spent together. His legacy will forever be cherished by those who loved him and had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Pam; sons, Dane Eighmey (Stacie), Devin Eighmey (Carrie) and Dalton Eighmey (Abby); mother, Marie (Gimm) Eighmey; sister, Carol Conrad (Fred); brothers, Mike Eighmey and Steve Eighmey and grandchildren, Weston, Finton and Huxton Eighmey.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Eighmey; and a brother, James Eighmey.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service on November 9, 2025, at 1 p.m. Both services will take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055.

Greg will be remembered for the profound impact he had on everyone he met. He will never be forgotten.

Yesterday

Where do I even begin to speak of Greg and the rest of the Eighmey crew and our Sizer crew. Living only a block away and their grandparents living next door, there were lots of laughs and memories to be had. We definitely had a blast and I can still hear of sounds of our happy days. Big hugs. Cindy (Sizer) Wagner

Yesterday

I grew up near Greg and the Eighmey family and went went to elementary through high school with him. He was a wonderful guy! We used to walk to Dog & Suds, a local drive in, for coney dogs and root beer, often with Greg buying, using his paper route money.
My deepest condolences to his family.
