My deep condolences go to Dr Katherine van Wormer and her family as they grieve the death of Robert van Wormer in February. My memory of Robert is of a man surrounded by books and cameras. Robert welcomed me warmly as his wife Katherine's co-author. In his kind and gentle manner he agreed without protest to index our lengthy social policy textbook. As an experienced indexer this was a familiar task, but I don't think he received fair remuneration in this instance. I shall always remember his welcome and beautifully measured and resonant speaking voice. He is much missed.

Both Toril and I was so saddened to hear of Robert´s passing. I have such fond memories of traveling with him and Katherine; he was truly one of the most humble and kind individuals I´ve ever known. Robert had a way of making everyone feel so welcome and cared for, no matter where we were. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
