Thomas Refshauge Obituary
Thomas (Tom) Edward Refshauge, 75, of Rogers, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 12, 2024. He was born April 12, 1948, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Darlene (nee Diestler) Refshauge. Tom was a faithful member of Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers.
Tom grew up in Cedar Falls, attending Cedar Falls schools through his sophomore year at CF High. He returned to Cedar Falls after graduation to attend the University of Northern Iowa from 1966-1969.
He started his vocational career working with disadvantaged youth and adolescents. When he worked night duty, the kids jokingly called him the "night stalker" when he checked in on them. Tom was the former owner/operator of The Centurion Security Company from 1997 - 2008. Tom participated in Big Brothers/Big Sisters program for a number of years.
Tom had several "crowd scene" roles in the 1982 TV movie "The Blue and the Grey" which was in large part filmed in Northwest Arkansas. In one of the scenes he was in, the actor Gregory Peck (portraying Lincoln) was giving a speech from a train. Tom can be seen from behind waving his farmer's hat. He greatly enjoyed this experience. However, the most important thing to Tom was telling people about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife Joyce (nee Hesse) Refshauge; his siblings Janet (Joe) Miltenberger of Astoria, Oregon; Linda Refshauge of Iowa; Amy Refshauge of Springdale, Arkansas; and Ted Refshauge of Cedar Falls, Iowa; nieces Abbie (Philip) Clemons from Marion Iowa; Hannah (Justin) Smith from Vinton Iowa; and Rebekah Penning from Iowa; two great-nieces and three great-nephews; nephews Kevin Hesse of Monte Ne, Arkansas and Mark Shreve from Waterloo Iowa.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Lyle Refshauge, mother Darlene Refshauge, grandparents Donald and Malinda Diestler, grandparents Otto and Kate Refshauge; aunts Alice Vitacco and Agnes Sayles, uncle Donald Diestler; sister-in-law Delores Shreve and brother-in-law Donald Hesse.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, with interment at the Rogers Cemetery. Memorial contributions to your church are encouraged.
