Robert "Bob" Leland Couch
July 31, 1940 – July 14, 2024
Okanogan, WA
Robert "Bob" Leland Couch went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2024, at the age of 83.
Bob was born on July 31, 1940, in Southgate, CA. to Edwin Lee and Vurna Jane (Leach) Couch. They moved to Langlois, OR, when he was young, finding a love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping along the Oregon coast with his brothers. He joined the Navy in 1957, and was honorably discharged in 1961.
He fell in love with Phyllis Coleen Fry and eloped with her on February 3, 1965, in Sutherlin, OR. He worked in the sawmills and later, as a salesman on the Oregon coast. He moved his family to Ketchikan, AK, in 1972, where he managed a successful department store. In 1975, the family moved to Cashmere, WA, and he returned to logging and sales. In 1992, Bob and Coleen settled in Okanogan, WA. He completed his career as a real estate agent and retired in 2006.
He found his greatest job satisfaction when he became a grandfather and spent his retirement passing his wisdom and love for the outdoors, the road, and adventures to his grandchildren. He loved to drive and see the country - many walkabouts were taken all over the United States and Canadian territories creating wonderful, long-lasting memories with his wife, siblings, kids, and grandkids.
He is survived by Coleen, his wife of 59 years; their children: Jarod Couch and Jessica (Rob) Chilcote; three grandchildren: Zachary Chilcote, Emma Chilcote, and Katie Chilcote; and a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Chilcote. He is also survived by his brother, Dan (Debbie) Couch; sister, Vicki Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Ronald Couch, Dean Couch, and Rodrick Couch.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Omak First Baptist Church, 620 Ridge Dr., Omak, WA, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Omak First Baptist Church Building fund.
