Timothy O'Dea Obituary

Timothy O'Dea
May 7, 1953 - July 16, 2025
Timothy Owen O'Dea was born in Billings, MT on May 7, 1953. He passed away at Blossom Creek Memory Care on July 16, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Tim was the third of six children born to Paul and Lois (Williams) O'Dea. He was raised in Miles City, MT and graduated from Custer County High School in 1971. Tim was accepted to Carroll College in Helena, MT and focused on pre-med. During his 4th year at Carroll, while studying in the library, he met his future wife Sue. Timothy married Susan Eccleston, June 19, 1976 in Anaconda, MT. In 1979, he graduated from the University of Washington with his WAMI cohort earning his M.D. His next steps led to a Family Practice residency at San Bernardino County Medical Center. He was certified in family practice in 1980. To fulfill his time to the Public Health Service he was assigned to Glasgow, MT. Tim loved the community of Glasgow and later joined a group practice. Both children Sarah and Matthew were born in this small and loving community. At the age 36, Tim decided to advance his medical degree. He was matched in Des Moines, IA for a one year general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist. He then focused on a specialty in Anesthesiology & was accepted to the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita. He graduated in June 1994. Tim worked in Wichita from 1994-1999. Tim and Sue had a great desire to be closer to family in Montana and in 1999 starting looking for an opportunity to move. In 1999, the family moved from Kansas to Washington and Tim joined Wenatchee Anesthesia. In 2011, Tim moved on to doing locum tenen leading him to places like Biloxi, MS; Auburn, WA; Salem, OR. As we joke, Tim never met a stranger, so this type of work brought him joy meeting new people in all walks of life. Tim had a vast array of interests making it hard to express all the things he was passionate about. He was an avid ham radio operator, loved fishing, mushrooming, cooking, and the Master Gardener Program.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lois and brother, Thomas.
He is survived his wife of 49 years, Susan; daughter, Sarah (Jonathan) Olson; son, Matthew (Paula) O'Dea; his siblings, Patrick (Marlene) O'Dea, Peggy (Lawrence) Gieser, Marianne Reaves, and Marty (Jeanette) O'Dea; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass for Tim will be Thursday July 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 625 Elliott Ave, Wenatchee.

As a classmate of Tim´s in Miles City we knew he´d excel in whatever he pursued.
So sad that his life was cut short. Praying for his family.
