Alvin E. Lewis

Alvin E. Lewis, 87, of Allentown, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Joan J. (Davidock) Lewis, shared nearly 64 years of marriage. Born in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Alvin E. and Eileen (McCoog) Lewis. Alvin was a 1956 graduate of Mahanoy City High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. Alvin worked as a Supervisor at General Electric for 30 years. Later, he worked at Black+Decker and the PA Turnpike for 12 years until retiring in 2001. Alvin was a member of St. Paul's R.C. Church in Allentown, where he was an usher and active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He also played for the Allentown Patriots Old Timers Softball Team for 18 years and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Alvin enjoyed reading the newspaper, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. Survivors: His loving wife, Joan; daughter, Colleen Marx and her husband Joe of Egypt; sons, Michael Lewis and his wife Judy of Allentown, Brian Lewis and his wife Val of Danielsville; 5 grandchildren, Justin, Michael, Sean, Kade and Briana; nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by brothers John and Robert Lewis. Services: A prayer service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
