Arlene Unger Obituary

Arlene E. Unger, 90, of Allentown and formerly of Salisbury Township, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in her home. She was the wife of the late Frank Unger, who died in 1993. Born in Salisbury Township, she was a daughter of the late Edward F. and Lena E. (Ritter) Bock. Arlene was a graduate of Allentown High School. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Modern Pants Factory in Allentown for 12 years. Arlene also found great joy in owning and operating Unger’s Catering of Salisbury Township for 40 years with her husband. She was a member of St. Mark’s U.C.C. in Allentown and was a former President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Salisbury Fire Company. Arlene also enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and volunteered at the voting polls for many years. Survivors: Daughter, Diane E. DeAngelo of Fleetwood; sons, Frank E. Unger and his wife Linda of Salisbury Township, Larry J. Unger of Salisbury Township, David R. Unger and his wife Julie of Alburtis; sister, Dolores Nesfeder of Allentown; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Arlene was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Unger and a brother, Ralph Bock. Services: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Mark’s U.C.C., 52 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown, PA 18103.
