Charles Kapun Obituary

Charles Edwin Kapun, 97, of Allentown, died in his home on Friday, May 16, 2025. Born July 29, 1927 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was a son of the late Anton and Martha (Merbs) Kapun who moved to Allentown in 1932. He was married to Dorothy L. Ziegler for 62 years before her death in 2011. In 1946, he served as an auto mechanic in the Fifth Cavalry Regiment in Osaka, Japan. At age 15, he began working for Al Arnowitz at the Texaco Station at Fifth and Walnut Streets where he worked until 2001 when the station closed. He then continued work as a custodian at St. Paul School until 2011. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Allentown. Survivors: Sons, Patrick Kapun of Allentown, Michael Kapun and his wife Michelle of Lower Macungie; daughter, Theresa and her husband Butch Schoch of Ironton; grandchildren, Jennifer Kapun Bridgwood, Tana Crone, Kelly Moussa, Erin Zgonis, Deirdre Blakemore, Scott Kapun, Megan Thompson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Houser, Jordan and Justin Jones, Connor Moussa, Kenleigh and Evan Zgonis, Madison, Gavin and Grayson Blakemore, Khale and Landon Warfel; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; son Charles P. Kapun; brothers Anthony, Joseph and Leonard Kapun; sister Mary Heller. Services: Private. Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
