Gertrud Stroble Obituary

Gertrud E. Stroble, 87, of Lower Macungie Township, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in the Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice Unit on 17th Street in Allentown. Born in Erlangen, Germany, she was the last living of nine children born to the late Johann Georg and Marie Christianna (Regenfus) Schonweitz. Gertrud worked for many years in the clothing textile industry, first in the Shipping Department at Berkley Manufacturing and later as a factory worker at Tama Manufacturing until retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Allentown. Gertrud loved to travel, especially to visit family in Germany. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors: Daughter, Coleen M. Schmick and her husband Michael of Lower Macungie Township; sons, Harry K. Stroble and his wife Debra of Allentown, Thomas N. Stroble and his wife Sharon of Northampton, Richard C. Stroble and his wife Malissa of Salisbury Township; 8 grandchildren, Dawn, Heather, Jennifer, Brittany, Lauren, Kalynn, Alexander and Alexis; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family in Germany. Gertrud was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Lisa Ann Stroble and a granddaughter Danielle Gentile. Services: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park will be private for family at a later date.
