Jared Reid Obituary

Jared Gene Reid, of Plymouth Meeting, Pa, passed away on January 8, 2025 at the age of 27. Born on May 29, 1997 to Dawn Cavanaugh (Ken Prado) and Gary Reid, Jared was the beloved son of Dawn and Gary; beloved step-son of Ken Prado; loving brother of Madeline Reid, and Jeff Reid, loving step-brother of Brooklyn Prado, Starlyn Prado, Ashlyn Prado, and Joey Stricker, cherished grandson of Richard Cavanaugh; dear nephew of Scott Reid, Thomas Buckingham, Scott Cavanaugh, Aaron Cavanaugh, and Dean Cavanaugh. Jared was a wonderful, kind hearted man. He would do anything for anyone. He loved feeling needed, anytime someone was hurt or sick he made sure that person had what they needed and would continuously check in on them. He loved joking around. He loved cooking and loved it even more when he out did his mom's cooking. Every day he was with his family in the kitchen cooking and coming up with creative meals. He loved helping his mom in the garden. He loved Cos play and would go to as many conventions as he could with his friends. Video games were another passion of his. We would drive into work together and have many conversations about traveling, he really wanted to see the world. We were making plans for the spring to see some local sites. Relatives and friends are invited to Jared's Life Celebration on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike, form 10 AM to 11:50 AM, followed by his funeral service at 12 Noon, a lunch will be served, then his interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park.

Jared, you were always there for me no matter what. I love you so much. I will always treasure all us our memories together we had together. Whenever I need to talk to someone about good or bad I knew I always had you. I will miss our late night conversations in the kitchen, fishing together , cooking together( I just watched), and everything else we would do.The Cavanaugh's/ Reid´s becoming apart of my family was the best thing to ever happen to me. You never made me feel left out or forgotten. You always made sure everyone around you was okay. I remember this one time I wanted to get ice cream almost at 10pm. He walked me to the store, and made sure we got home safe even though he had a long day. I could go on for hours about you. I will forever love you with all my heart. Not a day goes by where I haven´t thought about you. I truly miss you. I love you Jared.

I met Jared at the company where we worked together. On my first day, I was nervous and shy, hesitant to bother anyone. Jared was the first to offer me help, always finding time to answer my questions. Even when I didn’t need help, Jared made sure to check in on me.
Jared was an incredible cook. Whenever he brought food to work, he made sure everyone got a plate, even if you had just joined the team. I think Jared noticed that I was shy about grabbing a plate, because he would always, say, "Make sure you grab a plate," "Did you try it yet?" "Tell me how it is," and "Don't leave without taking a plate." Over time, I grew out of my awkwardness and would have my plate ready whenever Jared brought food in.
We bonded over our shared love of fishing. We probably spent more time talking about fishing than actually working! Almost every day, we discussed fishing spots and always tried to plan some fishing on the weekends, but life just seemed to get in the way. Still, we never stopped planning for the next season.
As my time at the company came to an end, I was struggling with the stress. Jared was there for me, offering a listening ear and encouraging words. He reminded me that my happiness was important and supported my decision to move on.
Even though Jared and I only knew each other for a short period of time, it felt like we’d been friends forever. I never got around to sharing my plans for the upcoming fishing season with him, but I hope he knows he was on my mind.
Rest easy, Jared. I’m going to miss you deeply. I hope you’re out there fishing and cooking up some gourmet meals.
