M. Josephine Guerrieri, a cherished matriarch and a beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Arden Courts of North Hills, in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on March 19, 1928, in Dunmore, PA, to the late James and Bernetta (Claps) Guarino, Josephine lived a life marked by love, dedication, and grace.
Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Domenic Guerrieri, with whom she shared an unwavering bond of 60 years until his passing on April 2, 2013. Their journey together was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Mary Jo McGettigan, and her husband, Kenneth, of Wexford, PA. Her role as a grandmother to Matthew and his wife, Nicole, and to Colin, as well as a great-grandmother to Declan and Finn, was one of her greatest joys. Josephine's family was the cornerstone of her life, and her nurturing presence will be profoundly missed.
Predeceased by her siblings, Vincent Guarino and Claire Foiw, Josephine's memory will be cherished by her many nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched with her warmth and wisdom.
A proud graduate of Dunmore Highschool, Josephine's professional life was characterized by her tenure as a medical secretary at Bethlehem Steel. Her meticulous attention to detail and compassionate demeanor made her a respected and valued member of the team.
Josephine's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. A former member of Our Lady of Pompeii Roman Catholic Church and current member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bethlehem, PA, she lived her faith through acts of service and unwavering commitment to her church community. Her devotion was evident in the way she lived her life and in the kindness she extended to others.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 10, 2024 at St. Anne's Catholic Church- 450 E Washington Avenue, Bethlehem, PA 18017, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery- 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Josephine's services have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral home, Bethlehem.
