Maureen O'Connor Obituary

Maureen (Maher) O'Connor of Saylorsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and laughter to everyone she knew. Maureen grew up in Spotswood, New Jersey, as the beloved daughter of Geraldine and William Maher. She met the love of her life, Terrence O'Connor, at the University of Scranton. They married shortly after graduation and shared 40 wonderful years together, raising three sons whom she adored beyond measure. Maureen had a natural gift for nurturing others. She spent her career teaching children with special needs at Pleasant Valley Middle School, where her warmth, patience, and deep sense of purpose touched countless lives. Outside the classroom, she was a dedicated "baseball mom," known for her sideline cheers and many years of service with West End Little League. She later became the proud and playful "Momo" to six beloved grandchildren, all of whom she loved fiercely and spoiled gladly. Whether talking and joking with family and friends, belting out karaoke, planning ways to shower her grandchildren with love, or sharing one of her favorite wisecracks, Maureen made every moment memorable. She brought joy and humor wherever she went, creating lasting memories for everyone lucky enough to be in her presence. To those who knew her best, Maureen was the heartbeat of her family-full of humor, quick wit, and the kind of sarcasm that could make you laugh even when you didn't want to. She had a way of telling it like it was-always with love (and a raised eyebrow). She lit up every room she entered, not just with her presence, but with her perfectly timed one-liners. Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Terrence; her cherished sons, Liam (Anne), Brendan (Becky), and Collin (Gabby); and her treasured grandchildren: Violet, Mikayla, Henry, Kellen, Brody, and Evan. She is predeceased by her parents, Geraldine and William, and her four siblings: William, Paul, Colleen, and Erin. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Kresge Funeral Home in Brodheadsville, PA. A second viewing will take place on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 9:00–9:45 AM at Kresge Funeral Home, followed by a 10:00AM Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Brodheadsville. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Little League (WELL) of Effort, PA.
