Ruth L. Hensinger

Ruth L. (Lengel) Hensinger, 100, of Allentown, formerly of Slatington, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025 in her home. She was the wife of the late Claude E. Hensinger. Born in Neffs, North Whitehall Township, on November 14, 1924, Ruth was the daughter of the late Irvin H. and Florence (Smith) Lengel. A graduate of the former Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1946, Ruth was a visiting nurse in Philadelphia and taught public health at the former Allentown General Hospital. She was a past matron of the Slatington Chapter #458, O.E.S. in 1961. Ruth was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville where she formerly served on council, sang in the choir, was a member of various committees, and held Eucharist duties. Survivors: son, David M. Hensinger and his wife, Kim Ann Shollenberger of San Luis Obispo, CA; grandsons, Caleb Hensinger and his wife, Exodia Demosthene of Atlanta, GA and Nathan Hensinger of California; predeceased by daughter, Susan M. Thomas and siblings, Thomas Lengel, Marion Fields, and Kathryn Rex. Service: A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873 Schnecksville with the Rev. Gordon A. Camp officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc.
