Aniela "Nellie" Perini

Aniela "Nellie" Perini, age 90, of Shelton, CT, beloved wife of Ezio Perini, died peacefully on November 5, 2023 at the Cambridge Manor Health Care Center in Fairfield, CT. Born in Dokszyce, Poland on December 18, 1932, she was the daughter of Antoni and Antonina Szymakowska Jacukiewicz. Mrs. Perini attended college in Poland and worked as a teacher for several years. She immigrated to the U.S. with her daughter in the late 1960s during the height of communism and settled in Bridgeport. She worked in manufacturing as an inspector at the Ohio Rubber Company (Eagle Pitcher) and in 1981 was hired by Avco-Lycoming (Honeywell) where she worked until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, Local 1010. After retirement, she and her husband loved to travel including trips to Poland, Canada, Las Vegas, Nova Scotia and Florida. They also enjoyed many trips to the casinos. Mrs. Perini was an avid reader and gardener who loved tending to her flower garden. She was a talented artist and excelled at knitting. She handcrafted countless blankets, hats, slippers and scarves for family and friends. She will be long remembered for her resilience and work ethic, but more so for her unparalleled, special love for her family. She is survived by her loving husband, who she's been with for over 50 years. In addition, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Christine (Antoni) Konopka of Shelton and her cherished grandchildren, Daniel (Joanna) Konopka of Stratford, Mark (Christina) Konopka of Seymour and Ivonka (Michael) Belby of Westport, three darling great-grandsons and her caring niece, Leonora Milkiewicz of Milford. She was predeceased by a brother, Roman Jacukiewicz. Family and friends may call at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Derby.
