Jessie Judkins Obituary

Jessie Judkins, 64, of Hartford, CT, departed this life on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born on May 22, 1961, in Halifax, VA, and moved with his family to Hartford when he was just one year old. Jessie was educated in the Hartford Public School system. He briefly enlisted in the United States Army but was honorably discharged due to medical reasons. From a young age, Jessie had a passion for landscaping and worked alongside his father and brothers in their family business Judkins Landscaping. Throughout his life, he also held various jobs, including positions at ColecoVision, as a Maintenance Supervisor at the Civic Center, and at Sam's Foods and Falsetti's Organ. A devoted New England Patriots fan, Jessie also loved the color blue. His specialty in landscaping was creating beautiful flower beds. Known for his sense of humor, he enjoyed a good laugh and never missed an opportunity to rank on anyone. Jessie never met a stranger-once you met him, you became a friend for life. He had a larger-than-life personality and a gift for making people feel welcome. He also had a deep love for fashion, especially nice suits and sharp clothes. In fact, some of us affectionately called him "Ranch," because he was always dressing-get it? Jessie is survived by his children: Shashanda Shelton and Tasha Miller, both of Hartford, CT, and Jessica (Aaron, Sr.) Green of Waterbury, CT; his beloved grandchildren: Kimora Shelton, Karl Miller, lll, Parris Tyson, and Aaron Green, Jr.; and his goddaughter, Markeia Byrd-Hamlett of Virginia. He is also survived by his mother, Rachel Judkins of Hartford, CT; and his siblings: Johnny Judkins (Gwen) of Hartford, CT, Jeremiah Judkins (Doreen) of Manchester, CT, Brenda Everett of Pennsylvania, Elsie Harrison (John) of Hartford, CT, Victor Judkins (Angela) of Springfield, MA, and Mary Evans (Troy) of East Hartford, CT. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and three uncles. Jessie was predeceased by his wife, Faye "Dawn" Judkins; his stepson, Rahiem; his father, James "Rooselvelt" Judkins; and his older brother, James Judkins. Special thanks to some of his closest friends and cousins-who he considered brothers-Chucke Gray, John "Peppa" Lea, and Larry Easler. Your bond and brotherhood meant the world to him. The repast will be held at Plush Events located at 1057 Blue Hills Avenue, Suite A, Bloomfield, CT, 06002.
