June Michaud

June Michaud, 96, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Robert H. Michaud, passed away on Sunday, July 27th, 2025. Born in Natick, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorathea Mattfield. June was a graduate of Connecticut Teachers College, now Central Connecticut State University. After graduating she was an elementary school teacher. As a member of the Hartford Ski Club she met her future husband Bob. They married in 1959, she left teaching and raised three boys to love skiing and all things outdoors. The family would spend free time at their lake cottage in New Hampshire and travel to the best east coast ski destinations. Later she begrudgingly took up sailing, learning to enjoy spending time on their sailboat in Noank, Ct and Long Island Sound. After Bob's death in 1987, she immersed herself in her love of the outdoors-wandering through quiet woods, climbing mountains, cross-country skiing, or walking along the beach. Even a simple drive around home brought her a sense of peace. Nature wasn't just a place she visited; it was where she felt most herself. She also cherished the thrill of distant travel, always eager to explore new corners of the world, collecting memories and photographs. Later, at home, she would turn those memories into art. Alongside the photographs, her paintings captured the light and feeling of a moment-quiet tributes to the places and things that had touched her heart. Lastly, she never met a sweet she didn't like and believed that a glass of red wine was her medicine! She leaves behind her children Robert and his wife Ana Nava of Rockville, MD, Geoffrey Michaud and his wife Patricia Adams of Manchester, CT, and Kent Michaud and his wife Jennifer of Honeoye Falls, NY; grandchildren Andrew, Alan, Robert, Claire her husband Patrick and Andrew. Calling hours will be held at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center Street in Manchester on August 4th, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. followed by a funeral home service. Burial to follow in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, CT.
