Marilyn Ellis Obituary

We gather to honor and celebrate the life of Marilyn Felicia Ellis. Aunt Jean, as she is affectionately called, was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies on December 5, 1943, the offspring of the late Norman and Catherine Ellis, and transitioned from this life on January 21, 2025. Marilyn graduated from Moneague Teachers College in Saint Ann Jamaica and subsequently executed her passion and purpose as a full-fledged teacher in Kingston, Jamaica for many years. Marilyn migrated to the United States of America 1981 and resided in Brooklyn, NY, The Bronx, NY, and most recently, Bloomfield, CT. Initially after relocating to the United States of America, it was disheartening for her because she would need to be retrained based on the requirements necessary in the United States to practice her profession as an educator. Marilyn worked in the healthcare industry as a Home Health Aide Attendant and a Medical Transcriptionist. Marilyn was a jolly person in name and nature. Felicia, her middle name, is of Latin origin, which means jolly. At family events, she would spontaneously surprise everyone with spirited moments of hilarious outbursts or a dramatic reaction. Those are indelibly etched in her family's minds. Marilyn displayed attributes of self-determination, as well as compassion and support to her family in times of need. She was a woman of God, and she shared her faith with congregations wherever she lived. Marilyn loved to dance, travel, and help those in need. Marilyn leaves a legacy of beautiful memories that will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her and she will truly be missed. She is survived by her only child, Kwadwo Brown; sisters, Eugenie Ellis and Maud White; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and associates. Marilyn was predeceased by her four brothers and three of her sisters. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again. Gone but not forgotten. Rest in Peace, Marilyn. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 10:30-11:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Life, 11:30 a.m., at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Marilyn, please visit our floral store.
