Phyllis May Obituary

Phyllis Tedeschi May, the devoted wife of David May of Somers, Connecticut, has passed on to her next life. Phyllis, a lifetime Connecticut resident, was born in Waterbury, CT to Rose Obremski and Edward Wells. She was eighty-seven. Phyllis spent her early years in ball parks enjoying sports with her boys and piling the kids in the station wagon to practice and games. She was fondly referred to as "Mrs. T" by all the kids in town. She first worked as a teacher's aide in the Vernon school system. She was dedicated to supporting students with intellectual disabilities and continued this important work for many years with the State of Connecticut. She treasured her beloved students and made them a part of her family. Phyllis also enjoyed a lengthy career as a hairdresser until her retirement. She loved working on hair and critiqued every hair style she saw! Known for her awesome deviled eggs and meatballs, Phyllis loved her New York Yankees, Bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren. When you see a red cardinal, think of Phyllis, she is with us always. Phyllis leaves behind three children, Deb Carnelli and her husband Joe of South Carolina, Nick Tedeschi and his wife Denise of Florida, and Scott Tedeschi and his wife Dot of Connecticut. She is survived by her siblings: Patti Krok (her husband Mike), Joe Obremski (his wife Kathy), and Sharon Cardin (her husband Eddie). "Gram/Grandma Feef" also leaves her grandchildren, Shontel Sima, Josh Tedeschi, Kayla Tedeschi, Diana Norris, Joe Carnelli Jr., and Tyler Swanson. Phyllis was a proud aunt to her beloved niece Nicole Yousefzadeh, nephews Michael Krok, Joe & Russell Obremski and nieces Kelli Moreau and Drea Giaconelli and their families. Phyllis was a proud great grandmother to Bowie Tedeschi, Wyatt, Wesley and Paisley Sima, Daelon Carnelli, and Isabella, Cecelia, Olivia and Julia Carnelli. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mikki, who was by her side (and on her lap) every day! She was predeceased by her sister Nance Welles and her niece Danna Giaconelli. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for visitation from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7 pm. Burial will take place at 10 am 0n Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA.
