Richard A. Morris

Richard A. Morris, 64, of Cheshire passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9th, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford with his fiancé Diane Farina by his side. Born in Wichita, Kansas on January 10th, 1961, Richard served his country honorably and faithfully in the US Army 82nd Airborne and was the recipient of the Army Service Ribbon, Parachute Badge, Expert M16 Badge, Expert Hand Grenade Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, Multinational Forces Observers Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, and the Army Lapel Button. Richard attended the University of Arizona from 1986-1989, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Wichita State University in 1996, and his Juris Doctorate in 2008 from the University of Connecticut School of Law, Hartford. Richard worked as a Toolmaker for Cessna Aircraft Company for seven years; as a Manufacturing Engineer for Boeing Airplane Company, Wichita, Kansas for two years, and as a Process Engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford for 25 years. Richard enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, reading, loved cooking and was a faithful Kansas City Chiefs fan. Besides his loving fiancé Diane, he is survived by his mother Darlene A. Edwards Ralston, siblings Valarie Cross (Steve), Vanda Rajtar, and Susan Nelson (Doug). Richard was the uncle of Gina and Aaron Cross, Lacey Engelken (David), Brittany Zimmerman (Jamie) and great uncle of Ethan and Ella Engelken, Camdyn and Breckon O'Neal. Also survived by his favorite cat "Onion". Predeceased by his father Larry A. Morris and brother-in-law Stan Rajtar. The visiting hours will be Monday, June 23rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Full military honors and funeral services will follow the visiting hours at the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
