Vivian Wood Obituary

Vivian Jenkins Wood of Kathleen, GA (Vernon, CT) departed this life, peacefully, at home on March 10th, 2025. Vivian was the devoted wife of the late Rev. Timothy Lee Wood Sr. They were married for 58 years. Vivian and Tim loved to travel together. They would often get into the truck and drive to Florida to visit family. Tim and Vivian would also drive to watch their beloved UConn Huskies when they were playing within driving distance. During Tim's illness, Vivian was determined to take care of Tim and keep him comfortable at home. She succeeded. Through their union, Tim and Vivian had two sons. The late Timothy Lee "Busta" Wood Jr and Jeffrey Lee Wood of Vernon, CT. Vivian was born in Hartford, CT to the late James and Mattie (Williams) Jenkins on February 20th 1946. Vivian advanced through the Hartford school system and graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1964. She was a proud Owl, often bragging to Weaver grads about their epic Thanksgiving Day game victories. During her high school days she was a majorette for the band and enjoyed playing sports, especially volleyball. As an adult, she enjoyed playing tennis and bowled in leagues at the Meadows. She enjoyed crafting and collected Beanie Babies for a short period of time. Vivian enjoyed her old westerns like Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. She seemed to know facts about each actor in those shows. If Westerns weren't on the television, it was on the QVC station. Vivian was a woman of faith. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hartford, CT. Her passion was working with the youth ministries and she also taught Sunday School. Upon moving to Kathleen, GA in 2007, she became a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Perry, GA. Through New Hope's welcoming atmosphere Vivian became a part of that family. She would still watch Sunday morning services online until her last days. Vivian was predeceased by her brothers Eugene Jenkins, Fred Jenkins, James "Rock" Jenkins Jr., Jerome "Jack" Jenkins. Sisters Leatha (Jenkins) Carpening and Johnnie Mae (Jenkins) Williams. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son Jeffrey (Carol) Wood and granddaughter Bella of Vernon CT, brother Anthony "Bop"(Sharon) Jenkins of Hartford, CT, sister Rosemarie (Glenn "David") Prince of N. Las Vegas, NV. Sister in laws Emily Jenkins of Chesterfield, MO, Vivian Jenkins of Bonaire, GA, Althea "Judy" Jenkins of Warner Robins, GA, Betty Ann Jenkins of Bloomfield, CT and Dena Wood of Glastonbury, CT. Brother in laws Michael (Jo-Ann) Wood and Robert Kelvin (Cheryl) Wood both of Windsor, CT. Family by choice, Annie "Mama" Buckles, Annie (Rev Willie) Marshall, goddaughter Angela "Angie" (Johnny) Cherry and Joe (Nesta) Hudson, all of Georgia. Also, a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm with The Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12:00 pm at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Vivian, please visit our floral store.
