Wayne Corcoran Obituary

Wayne "Cub" Corcoran, 69 of East Haven passed away July 17, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born July 20, 1955 in New Haven to Robert and Sallyann (Ginger) Corcoran. Wayne is survived by his three loving siblings; Pamela DeDona (Carmen) of Branford, Sharon Corcoran of East Haven and Scott Corcoran (Molly) of Milford along with six nieces/nephews; Daniel DeDona, Greg DeDona (Vicki), Jayme DeDona (Valerie), Jillian Corcoran, Cameron Corcoran and Ryleigh Rivas. Wayne also leaves three great nieces; Alita DeDona, Alana DeDona and Sienna DeDona and lifelong friends, Nicky Pappacoda of East Haven and Louis Fusco. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and maternal grandparents, James and Josephine Ginger. Wayne or "Cub" as he was known from a young age as he looked like a little bear, should have been named "wolf" as he was extremely loving and loyal to his pack. He was always at the center of a party or gathering of friends. He was strong and talented, a jack of all trades for sure, but the two things he mastered was roofing and painting. Employed by F.W. Bailey & Sons for years Cub would often give impromptu tours of homes or buildings that he replaced the roofs for. He was very proud of the work he did and if he spotted a home he didn't work on, he would point out the flaws or things the competition did incorrectly! Cub was also an excellent painter sharing a business with his lifelong friend/brother Nicky Pappacoda for years. Cub was the master "cutter" Nicky on the "rollers"! Cub loved his family and friends for sure but we shared him as he was an avid sports fan who also loved to place a wager or two or more on a game just to make things more interesting. The Minnesota Vikings, Yankees, Washington Bullets/Wizards, Knicks and golf had his heart too. Scratch tickets was another favorite pastime next to watching his shows NCIS, Law & Order and The Blacklist to name a few. Cub was a loyal friend, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone was in a jam. Home projects, clean ups, moving, whatever the task he was there to help. He will surely be missed by all of us as there will never be another "Cub" in our den! The Corcoran family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Smilow Cancer Hospital – Shoreline Medical Center – Guilford for all their kind and compassionate care. All services are private and under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 E. Main Street, Branford CT 06405 in memory of Wayne "Cub" Corcoran. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Wayne "Cub", please visit our floral store.

Cubby was a life long friend, I loved him, we met in 1972 so we've known each other for over 50 yrs, from hanging on the corner in front of Yulos drinking beer to doing roofs with Frank Bailey, later opening up a painting business together, we were both Minnesota Vikings fans for years, every Sunday he be at my house getting the football line to put in his bets while my mother was frying meatballs an making macaroni that was the place to be on a Sunday, we never once had a fight all the years we've known each other, I loved him and will miss him but will never forget my friend Cubby
