Betsy Powers Obituary
Elizabeth A. 'Betsy' (Tremblay) Powers, 70, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, July 4, 2025, after a courageous five-year battle with breast cancer.
Betsy was born on March 15, 1955, in Danvers, MA to Miriam (Lyons) Tremblay. She grew up and was educated in Danvers before earning a degree in culinary arts from Essex Agricultural Institute. Catering and cooking were lifelong passions for Betsy. She worked many years in food service while raising her three daughters. Betsy took great pride in being not only a dance mom, but a second mom to others. She was a best friend to her girls and cherished the times spent together not only at recitals and competitions, but also at home simply being together as a family. As her girls got older, Betsy pursued a new passion of opening her beloved gift shop, Culinary Concepts. The shop not only allowed Betsy to share her love of entertaining and creativity but also helped her build many friendships and become an active member of the Andover community. After closing the business, she transitioned into commercial lending and worked as an assistant at Enterprise Bank for ten years where she made many friends before her retirement. Though Betsy wore many hats throughout her life, her favorite role was that of grandmother. Known affectionately as Neena or Cookie Nana by those who loved her most, she delighted in spoiling her four granddaughters and one special baby boy. Planning family outings, events, and vacations brought great joy to Betsy and her family over recent years. She also cherished hosting holidays for the extended Powers and Brown families, serving Valentine's tea to the ladies in her life, and reuniting friends from UMass for memorable Hawkfest celebrations. Betsy simply treasured spending time with family and friends; she always went out of her way to make sure everyone had a wonderful time at any gathering. Most important of all was Betsy's love for her husband and best friend of 45 years, Tom. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and happiness.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Powers, three daughters Kate and her husband Chris Lindsey, Brenna and her husband Eric Narcisi, and Ellen and her husband Chris Pendleton, and grandchildren Quinn and Ayden Lindsey, Tessa Narcisi, and Mya and Jayden Pendleton, her beloved in-laws, many nieces and nephews and their children. She is predeceased by her mother, Miriam, aunts Kathryn and Evelyn, and uncles Albert, William and Clarence, Jr. and her father in-law Richard Powers.
