Michael Eliot Sherr

Michael Eliot Sherr, 68, of Haverhill, MA, died peacefully with his family by his side, after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, son of the late Francene (Strelitz) and Jerome L. Sherr and lived in Dorchester for two years. The family moved to Sharon, MA in 1958 where Michael attended Sharon Public Schools. He studied at UMass Boston and worked as a manager in the home heating oil business for the majority of his career, in Chelsea and Revere. After retirement, he was the manager of the Yankee Fisherman's Cooperative in Seabrook, NH. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Sumner Donald Hershon. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Amy, devoted sons, Zachary and Ethan, and beloved brother Matthew and his wife, Cissy. Michael is also survived by mother-in-law, Natalie Hershon, brothers/sisters-in-law, Alan and Alex Hershon, Philip and Kim Miller-Hershon, Marc Hershon and partner Delano Davis, as well as nieces and nephews, David, Sarah, Danielle, Ariana, Isaac and Gabriel. He will also be missed by family pets Tank and Georgia. Michael loved being with his family and friends the most. He also enjoyed fishing, tying his own flies, playing golf, riding his Harley Davidson, traveling and plinkin' in the backyard. The Sherr Family wishes to acknowledge and thank the doctors and nurses at Mass General Brigham for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his funeral service on Sunday, October 27 at 11:00am at Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main Street, Haverhill, MA. Interment will follow at Children of Israel Cemetery, 324 Middle Road, Haverhill, MA. A memorial observance will be held at his late residence on Sunday following the burial and Monday, 2-4pm and 7-9pm, with a minyan at 7:30pm.
