Ricardo Hamlett, Sr. Obituary

Rick (Ricardo) Francis Hamlett, Sr., 71, of Newton, NH passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2025. He was born in Boston on October 11, 1953, son of the late Randolph Franklin Hamlett and Janet Cora (Medley) Hamlett. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1971. During his High School career, when not spending his time participating in theater and band activities, Rick was a member of the German Club and the National Honor Society. He later graduated from UMASS Lowell. Rick had an unwavering passion for music and theater, which led him to share his talent and knowledge as a teacher at Hunking and Nettle Schools in Haverhill, inspiring countless students in their own creative journeys. He found joy in every note and melody, whether playing his favorite instruments or teaching others to appreciate the same. His love for creativity extended beyond music; he had a penchant to build connections and friendships online, exchanging ideas and laughter in online chat rooms, and sharing recipes on his timeline that delighted him, his family and friends. A devoted fan of Jeopardy, he rarely missed an opportunity to test his knowledge alongside contestants, and his enthusiasm for the New England Patriots was unmatched, as he cheered for his favorite team through every season. Rick's warmth and thoughtfulness were evident in the small gestures he cherished most. Known for his dedication to celebrating others, he never missed the opportunity to wish his friends and family a happy birthday on Facebook, often sharing heartfelt messages that brightened their special days. He appreciated various aspects of his life, particularly his family, friends, children, and grandchildren. Rick took pleasure in acknowledging his family's achievements and enjoyed celebrating them. He is survived by his children: daughter and son-in-law Renee E. and Alex Tavarez of Somersworth, NH, daughter and son-in-law Heather L. and Alex Dewar of Haverhill, MA, daughter and fiancée Jennifer N. Hamlett and Cherie Santiago of Lowell, MA and son/namesake and fiancée Ricardo F. Hamlett, Jr. and Jessica Sanborn of Newton, NH. Also, his siblings brother William Broadard of Boston, sister and brother-in-law Cheri and Barry Bourassa of Leominster, MA and brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Sandra Hamlett of Newton, NH; his grandchildren Makaila and Khai Tavarez, Spencer, Lily and Atreju Dewar. He is also survived by his dear, longtime friend Mare Hamlett as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings; brother John Broadard, sister Janice Alestock, and brother Mark Hamlett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the calling hours on Tuesday, July 1 from 5-7 PM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford, MA. A memorial service will be held at a day and time to be announced.
