John Fortner Obituary

John Scott Fortner, 44, of Quincy, died at 7:05 p.m. Monday (July 7, 2014) in his home.

Born April 3, 1970, in Quincy, he was a son of Andrew L. "Levi" and Betty Lee Phillips Fortner.

Mr. Fortner was a concert music promoter for over 25 years.

John was a computer enthusiast and enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, taking drives and shopping. He was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed studying and discussing the Scripture with his family. He loved spending time with his family, especially during the holidays.

Survivors include his mother, Betty; two brothers, Rodney "Rod" Fortner (Joanne) and Jeff Fortner; two sisters, Sue Lockett (Mark) and Patty Littleton (Roger); six nieces, Jennifer Littleton, Danielle Littleton, Sara Lockett, Marissa Fortner, Andrea Fortner and Rebecca Fortner; a nephew, Ryan Lockett; and a great-niece, Amaria Lockett.

He was preceded in death by his father, Levi.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Lamm and Dr. Greg Javaux conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday morning until the time of services in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Diabetes Association or to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

ARRANGEMENTS: Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

I can't believe this is true. I had lost touch with John for almost a year because I didn't have internet. I recently got it back and thought the first person I would contact would be him. He was the sweetest person in the entire world. My heart aches. You all have my deepest sympathies. The world lost a great light.
