John A. Michaels Sr.

John A. Michaels Sr., 72, died Thursday (Oct. 3, 2013) in St. Luke's South Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan. He lived in Spring Hill, Kan.

John was born May 27, 1941, to Glenn and Margaret Dickerson Michaels in Granite City. He met the love of his life, wife Nancy E. Green Michaels while attending Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. John and Nancy were married Aug. 19, 1961, in Quincy.

He graduated from Granite City Sr. High School in 1959.

He graduated in 1964 with a bachelor of arts degree from Park College in Parkville, Mo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of sergeant and was in the military police. He was honorably discharged.

John worked in business for many years as vice president of collections at Tele-Check in Overland Park, Kan. He also later ran his own collection agency.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; and two sons and four grandchildren, son John Michaels Jr., his wife Jamie Craft Michaels and grandchildren Kylie and Kendall of Olathe, Kan., and son Robert Michaels, his wife Deborah Cole Michaels and grandchildren Carly and Cole of Eureka, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Michaels.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Anglican Church, 3920 W. 63rd St., Prairie Village, Kan. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.

MEMORIALS: Trinity Anglican Church in Prairie Village, Kan., or Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola, Kan.
