Michael "Mike" Dedert, 74, of Quincy, Illinois passed away at 9:37am, on Monday, July 31, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on July 31, 1949, to Wesley and Norma (Meyer) Dedert. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and served from 1969-1971. He served stateside and was an excellent rifle marksman and excelled in finance. Mike never considered himself a Vietnam Veteran but rather an Era Veteran. In his family's eyes he was indeed a true Veteran and Hero.
Mike married Emma Lee Lennis on April 13. 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky, and she survives.
Mike wore many hats throughout his life. He farmed on the family farm, and he continued to farm as he got older for other area farmers. He was also a Payco Seeds salesman, bus driver, janitor, and maintenance man. After retirement he began working for Quincy Transit, driving the handicap van.
Mike enjoyed and looked forward to the county and state fair every year. He loved going to his grandchildren's activities and there weren't many places he could go where he didn't see someone he knew, or where he made a new friend.
Mike is survived by his wife and 3 kids; Timothy (Amber) Dedert, of Hillsboro, Missouri, Andrew (Amber) Dedert, of Liberty, Illinois, and Angela (Charles "Trey") Bryson, of Ursa, Illinois.; 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rebekah Dedert, of Hillsboro, Missouri, Rylee, Mason, Brynlee, and Peyton Dedert, of Liberty, Illinois, and Emma and Kinzie Bryson, of Ursa, Illinois; 1 brother, Wayne (Bev) Dedert, of Quincy, Illinois; 2 sisters, Cathy McCleery, and Linda (Bryan) Meado, also of Quincy, Illinois;1 sister-in-law, Jan Dedert of Petersburg, Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Kevin Dedert.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Fowler, Illinois. Pastor Dixie Croxton to officiate. Interment will take place at Greenmount Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by Bear Creek American Legion Post #823
Memorials may be made to St. Paul UCC, and Blessing Hospice.

Mom ( Arlene Miller) met Mike when he became her driver after she gave up her license. They became great friends When she found out he was related to dad, he became even more special to her.
