Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL.
Ruby was born September 5, 1930, in West Point, IL to Mack and Helena (Fischer) Newell. She was married to Junior E. Frohn on May 9, 1958, in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2001
Survivors include her one daughter, Julie Frohn, and her wife Mary Akers of Quincy, IL; one son, Emmett Frohn, and his husband Dave Galindo of Quincy, IL; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Newell.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Helena & Mack Newell; husband, Junior Frohn; and siblings, Paul Newell, Don Newell, Mack Newell, Roland Newell, Cecelia Newell, Nina Cochenour, Luella Thompson, and Wilma Anders.
Ruby worked in a dry cleaners for several years, and she was also a cook at Maple Terrace for 20 years.
Ruby was a kindhearted woman. She enjoyed doings word searches and spending time with her many rescue cats. If the television was on, you could bet that Law and Order, or some other crime drama show was on. She was also a fan of reading thrillers, and murder mystery novels, especially if they were written by James Patterson or Tess Gerritsen. The holiday season was always a special time for Ruby. She was an amazing baker and cook and always made sure her family was well fed and given plenty of sweets. She would always bake at least four different kinds of pies for holiday get togethers. Family meant the world to Ruby, and she made sure to soak up every moment she spent with them. Whether it was going to countless concerts, a nice family dinner at Cracker Barrel or IHOP, or just spending quality time with them. She loved them with all her heart and was always proud of them. Ruby will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
The family is planning to hold a celebration of Ruby`s life at a later date.
