Elisabeth Fuller Obituary

Elisabeth Fuller Elisabeth Fuller CAMBRIDGE Elisabeth Fuller, affectionately known as Betty, was born in Boston. She attended Girls High School. She attended nursing school in Rhode Island but went on to graduate from Goddard in Vermont with a degree in Liberal Arts and spent her working life in the area of social welfare. Betty went to work for the Department of Welfare in Boston as a social worker and was there for many years. In an effort to broaden her educational and cultural opportunities, in 1969, Betty went to Denmark to attend The Scandinavian Seminar College. She returned to the US in the early 1970s and worked for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission as a caseworker. She later became a probation officer for Boston Municipal Court, from which she retired in 1999 after many years. A longtime resident of Cambridge, Betty loved her adopted city and most especially Harvard Square where she lived for many years, enjoying the art and culture of the city. Raised in the Baptist church, Betty attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bostons South End. As an adult, she attended the Quaker Meeting, and in her later years attended The First Parish in Cambridge Unitarian Universalist. She had a deep love for poetry; Camus was her favorite. She was also a lover of classical music and ballet and had a fondness for public speaking never passing an opportunity to share her opinions and ideas. She was quirky and eccentric, which amused and sometimes amazed her friends and neighbors. She never married and had no children. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her only sibling, a brother Luther Fuller. She will be interred in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. A memorial service will be held on at 6pm on 17 December 2009, at The First Parish in Cambridge, The First Church in Cambridge Unitarian Universalist.
