Edward Jones Obituary

Edward W. Jones, longtime resident of Concord, died recently after a protracted illness. He was born in Winter Haven, FL to Mary (Stroy) and Charlie Jones. He attended Bethune-Cookman University and briefly enlisted in the military during WWII. While working on Marylands Eastern Shore, Ed met and married Regener (Wells) in 1952, and later settled in Philadelphia, PA. Ed moved to Concord, MA in 1969, and began a two decades-long career at GenRad Corp. During his 50 years in Concord, Ed became deeply involved in various aspects of civic life. He joined fair housing groups and served on mental health advisory boards. Ed also participated in Town Meeting, joined the local Democratic Town Committee and actively supported his TriCon Church. Ed was an avid golfer, home gardener and member of an informal breakfast meetup group. After a short hospitalization, Ed died in nursing care. His life was celebrated at TriCon Church on September 8, 2018, and he was buried at Sleepy Hollow alongside his late wife. Surviving Ed are his children: Marilyn, Regina, Muriel and Wesley; his sister Cora, two grandchildren and a host of Jones, Stroy and Wells family. Arrangements under the care of Glenn D. Burlamachi, Concord Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, Concord. To share a memory or offer a condolence visit: www.concordfuneral.com
