Alfred Nunes Obituary

Dr. Alfred Doc Brazier Nunes, age 70 of Rockwall, TX, passed away January 8, 2012. He was born April 10, 1941 and raised in Beverly, MA, to Austin Prady Nunes & Louisa (Brazier) Nunes. Doc had many happy memories as a teenager, belonging to sea scouts, avidly water-skiing, playing chess and championship waltzing. After high school, he struck out on his own, moving to Davenport, IA, and putting himself through Palmer Chiropractic College where he met his wife, Raejean. After graduation, they packed their belongings and headed to California, where Doc built successful practices in San Diego and El Cajon. In 1984 Doc and Raejean relocated to the Dallas, TX, area and built more successful practices and because of this, were able to retire early. Throughout his life, Doc was able to enjoy his love of traveling, hunting, deep-sea fishing, three-wheeling in the desert, playing cards and his summer home in his beloved Gloucester, MA. He never met a stranger and was blessed with the gift of gab. Doc used to amuse his children and grandchildren with his novel way of wrapping their Christmas presents in newspaper and duct tape. He was a good Pappa and will be missed. Doc is survived by his wife: Raejean Nunes of Rockwall, TX; daughters: Jody Harris & husband Rodney of Rockwall, TX, and Jennifer Nunes of Farmersville, TX; grandchildren: Erica, Robin and Natalie Harris of Rockwall, TX, who loved their Papa Doc; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Daniel Nunes; and brother: Ronald Nunes. A private Celebration of Docs Life will be held in Massachusetts at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cub Scouts of America Circle 10 Council Fairview at www.circle10.org or PO Box 35726, Dallas, TX 75235.

Dear Raejean and family:

I came across Doc's obituary in the local Alpine newspaper. I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Nunes hired me in 1972 to work part time at the San Diego office. I was still in high school. I remember him fondly - so funny, always engaged with people, always a way with words. I will forever appreciate the opportunity he gave me to work and to learn.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God Bless you.
