Avilio DiGravio Obituary

Avilio Rico P. DiGravio, of Hingham, formerly of Braintree, died July 2, 2010 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 87 years of age. He lived most of his life in Braintree before moving to Hingham four years ago. He was raised and educated in Weymouth where played on the Weymouth High Football Team. After his military service, John worked for Pneumatic Scale in Quincy as a sheet metal worker from 1945 | 1961. He was also a former co|owner of D & B Caterers which was established in 1961. U.S. Army Veteran WW II. Beloved husband of Louise (DelPico) DiGravio. Devoted father of John J. DiGravio and his wife Irene of Alexandria, VA and the late Ronald DiGravio. Brother of John DiGravio of Cape Cod. Loving grandfather of Jason DiGravio, Kristel Ferguson, Jessica DiGravio, Alison DiGravio and Eric DiGravio. Great-grandfather of Justin and Tyler DiGravio. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours was in the McDonald Funeral Home, South Weymouth, at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital), Wednesday, July 7, from 4 | 8 p.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree on Thursday, July 8 at 9 Oclock. I too had one of my first jobs working for 'Uncle Rico'. Good memories, as is always the case with the DiGravios, working with my best friend Nancy and her Mom for D&B.

Uncle Rico gave me my very first job and I loved it! I always enjoyed his company, even if it wasn't very often. He was a good guy and I'm sure he will be missed by many!

We are so saddened to hear of the loss of Rico. He has touched our lives over many many years. We consider Rico as family. I personally have so many fun memories of things we have done together. The stories and his personality made us laugh. We will miss him so much.

He will be with us in our thoughts always. He was a great friend to our family and an awesome man to have known.
