Hazel I. Chisholm

Hazel Irene (Benson) Chisholm, 89, of West Bridgewater passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of Thomas M. Chisholm of West Bridgewater. Daughter of the late Ivar and Greta (Lawson) Benson, Hazel graduated from Bridgewater State College with a degree in education and was an elementary school teacher in Brockton for 9 years and West Bridgewater for over 25 years. She was a member of the First Church of West Bridgewater and the K.A. Club in West Bridgewater. Survivors include her husband, Thomas M. Chisholm; her children, Thomas Chisholm and his wife Christine of West Bridgewater, Scott Chisholm of West Bridgewater, Desa Dewhurst and her husband Donald of East Bridgewater, Marjorie Crawford and her husband James of Florida, and Diane Parmenter and her husband Peter of Georgia; a sister, Marjorie Sullivan of Wareham; her brothers-in-law, Robert Chisholm and his wife Louise of Centerville and Richard Chisholm and his wife Jean of East Bridgewater; her grandchildren, Ian Crawford and Lillian Chisholm; and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was also the sister of the late Desa Nelson. A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the First Church of West Bridgewater, 29 Howard Street.
