Lorraine Wachsman Obituary

Lorraine T. (Fay) Wachsman, a longtime resident of Bridgewater, died unexpectedly, Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at her home. She was 62 years old. She was born Feb. 26, 1948, in Boston, one of nine children of the late Frederick Fay and Anna (Condon) Fay. Lorraine was raised in both Magnolia and Rockport. After attending middle school in Magnolia, her family moved to Rockport where she graduated from Rockport High School. She was a graduate of Salem State College, Class of 1970 and became a school teacher. For over 30 years, she worked for the Town of Randolph as a middle and junior high school teacher. After her retirement, she continued to enjoy teaching as a substitute for Bridgewater Middle Schools. An active member of her community, Lorraine had been a friend of Bill W. for over 25 years and had mentored hundreds of women to recovery. She will be lovingly remembered by her family members and many friends. Lorraine was the loving sister of Brenda Taylor of Manchester, N.H., Karen Jylkka of Rockport, Richard Fay and his wife Diana of Saugus, Barbara Fay of Manchester, N.H., Mary Cox of Fairbanks, Alaska, Paul Fay and his wife Peggy of Rockport, John Fay of Everett and the late Peter Fay. She also leaves her aunt, Eileen Warner of Randolph, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of Lorraines life will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 582 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Sept. 11, 2010, at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Memorials to honor Lorraines life may be made to Edwina Martin House, 678 N. Main St., Brockton, MA 02301 or to My Brothers Keeper, PO Box 338, Easton, MA 02356. Lorriane's spirit and warmth will remain with us forever, as a teacher she was a true inspiration as someone I knew as an adult her I saw her true light shine thru.
She was a woman of much strength and character and will be sadely missed.

Lorraine's constant vigilence to overcome and her untiring willingness to help others will be missed forever. Let her spirit remain with us and her memories be cherished.
